Great Scott!! we are now in the future! Smile (well tommorow 21st Oct 2015)

In 1985 I was a student and had just acquired a 1978 Chrysler Sunbeam, it was an insurance write off, with just panel damage all the way down the passenger side, and my first attempt at at bodywork repairs...

We never got our hover boards or self tethering Nike's Sad

What were you up to, car wise 30 years ago?

In 1985 dad acquired what became my Mk3 Spitfire, in many many pieces, with little in the way of floors, sills, door bottoms, and much more. With a factory hardtop, and wire wheels, the grand sum of £25 was paid. I was 14 at the time.

I ran the car for a few years, sold it, then found out in recent times that it had been re-rebuilt (maybe twice) since then, and lives on in the Midlands somewhere.

We also looked after the yellow Quattro in the clip.

I didn't own a car at the time because I spent so much time away but my wife (then my girlfriend) had a Escort Mk2 1.3GL

Thirty years ago I had just bought this from it's one owner :

40,000 miles, complete history with every receipt, tax disc and literature even the sales brochure.

At the same time I was offered a mauve Ford Escort 1300E Mark One for £250. It was tidy too.

Isn't hindsight prickly?[/img]

In 1985 my everyday transport was this- although it was starting to show some signs that it had been 13 years since restoration.

In 1985, I was working in an independant motor factors, where I would stay until about 1994, my drive at the time was either this Vauxhall Chevette 1256cc,
which I found after buying it that the passenger footwell was very rotten indeed, soon repaired however by me and a mate with an old roadworks sign we found laying by the roadside......
stick welded and undersealed in place, Happy Days

Or this Hillman Avenger, my first car bought with MOT for £180

And these two bikes for sunny days:

Cheers Steve

In 1985 I was 22, had just bought a Triumph Herald in Belgium. I could not find one in the Netherlands or they were too expensive. It needed work on the brakes but little else before I could register it.
This is a pic from 1989 I think when we drove two cars, the Herald and the Oxford.
Sold the Herald 23 years ago but it still exist. Would buy it back if I could find the owner.

In 1985 I was driving this Porsche 924 Turbo, smashing car and would often take people by surprise if they thought it was a standard 924. Smile

No pics, sorry, but in 1985 I had a 1976 Peugeot 504 Ti automatic, and herself had a 2 litre Citroen CX, which was a disappointment after 4 or 5 DSs.
Our leisure vehicle was a Transit ambulance converted to camper van.
I guess the 504 must be a bit rare now; I don't remember the last time I saw one.
