There's no shortage of new, classic car-related, merchandise about for sale. Some things look pretty good, others fairly naff/cheesy.
Do you admit to owning any particularly natty club- or car-branded merchandise, for example MG socks, or perhaps a club-branded meerkat
?
Have you seen any real horrors for sale?
Spotted in a TV paper the other day, an MGB-inspired wristwatch that ranks quite highly on my "cheese-ometer".

I have a Jaguar Drivers Club umbrella that I won at a club event. As to clothes bearing commercial advertising I'd want to be paid to be walking advert.

The typical Club garments offered to members are normaly cheesy affairs IMHO....I have a pair of Old Specken Hen MG octagon cuff links that were a freebie probably with some OSH but although I wear cuff links a lot, I've never worn them!

I reckon I have the cheesiest item of all, a Riley 1.5 teapot - or rather a boring white teapot that someone slapped a transfer of a Riley 1.5 on. It's absolutely awful! _________________ David

One need only visit one of the "decor" retailers here to find some of the absolute worst rubbish ever... if some clever Chinese bloke can copy a bonnet badge or some period-styled advertising, there's a fair chance it will find it's way onto the sales shelves and (presumably) to some enthusiast's wall... and not cheaply. The trouble is, the people who'll BUY this dross as a gift have NO IDEA how grossly incorrect most (if not ALL) of it is, and the honored recipient of same will probably display it anyway out of sheer politeness.... _________________ nothing is ever so far gone as to be unsalvageable. see this bolt?..... |

you have a rather odd concept of "free", my friend! When I worked for John Deere we carried an extensive line of branded merchandise; hats, jackets, gloves, belt buckles (of the enormous Western Rodeo style), miniature tractors, etc etc and so on.. John Deere (like many brands) was VERY protective of the "brand" and would give impostors a damn good thrashing in the courts... so, a jacket complementary of a several thousand pound tractor wouldn't be in poor taste! _________________ nothing is ever so far gone as to be unsalvageable. see this bolt?..... |

I have the following:
1) Mugs with images of MM1000 and A35 car prints on, but no Austin Seven Ruby one,
2) The 'usual' key rings with their badges on,
3) White metal models of all three cars
4) An 'Austin' wall clock in the Carport that keeps mocking me as to how long it takes me to do anything of late,
5) T-shirts with MM1000 and A35 car images and their names embroidered on them.
What can I say
NO tattoos, I draw the line here!

I got a white polo shirt with the CO-OC emblem as a prize when I traveled to their annual meeting in the Westminster, back in 1998 or so.
I still have it. It is an ugly polo though and I have never worn it. _________________ a car stops being fun when it becomes an investment |

Quote Geoff "4) An 'Austin' wall clock in the Carport that keeps mocking me as to how long it takes me to do anything of late, " End Quote.
Take the hour hand off. After all, one only needs the clock to tell when the "10 minutes to dinner, darling " is about to change to "IT'S ON THE TABLE !!!"
