There are a couple of things one should consider, the most important is headroom
One can either make accurate calculations, vector the lift corners, and provide a roof with sufficient headroom
or........ option 2
draw a chalk line around the hole and extend the roof as required. |

Head room isn't an issue, neither is the power supply. Just need to convince myself it's a good idea!

Car lifts are an excellent idea to get to the underside, and increase storage.
The choice between two post and four post is a little more complex, I have worked under both.
The two-poster requires sound floors to locate the lift, and good depth of concrete to drill into to mount the locating bolts. A four poster is inherently more stable, and does not require the depth of fixings a two-poster needs.
There are also two types of mechanics to raise the arms, chain or hydraulic.
Hydraulics are obvious, but the chain type rotates a screw the length of the vertical arm, and moves a threaded boss up and down, and therefore the arm. Simpler and cheaper than hyberbolics. _________________ KA

The screw ones are fine....unless they jam when fully raised. What a bother getting it back down. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

I have the same storage issues. My unit is very tall but narrow, the only thing stopping installing a lift is cost. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

Some years ago, we stayed in a Hotel in Aachan, North Germany, and the car park beneath the Hotel had it's capacity doubled by the use of cassette type parking places, where they moved up and down as a unit, with a car on the upper, and lower levels. The main problem we encountered was the lack of headroom, as we were on a motorcycle, and the clearance between the screen, and me as a rider was quite tight. _________________ KA
