Have you been tempted, in recent times, by one of the hot hatches of - say - the early/mid 1980s? I sometimes think that a 205GTi might be a hoot, but whether I could put up with flimsy plasticky interiors, and other such delights, for very long I'm not sure.

I have allways fancied a Sunbeam Lotus, prices have rocketed in recent years, I'd also like a MK1 Astra GTE, almost bought a used one around 1988 but then got a job with a company car which came with a Mk2 GTE......

I wouldn't mind a Peugeot 309 GTI Goodwood.

Exactly my thoughts in general for 70s / 80s / 90s cars. Plus plastic brackets for holding trim and other parts that will break and cannot be found anymore.

I rather like my BX but am glad I do not have to take it apart / restore it.

I, too, fancy a Lotus Sunbeam, but am put off by the price they are fetching, and the 205GTi is now not far behind them!

I think I would try and hunt out an early Autobianchi A112 Abarth (claimed to be the very first hot hatch) just to be different Cool

I do look at some of these things - might be nice to get a Mk1 Astra for example, just to stay in the GM stable. But then I remember how I hardly drive the cars I've got, for various reasons, and drop the idea. Besides, once my current project is done (or at least close enough to done to get it MOT'd), I've got a mid-80s Audi coupe quattro to get back on the road.

I know of a rally prepared sunbeam lotus stored in a leafy Shropshire garage!
It has been used in anger but not for many years

Me Too! but my 309 GTi wasn't the Goodwood but it still went well and probably the most stable car ever. Absolutely no body roll!

I had a new Citroen GS1220 that was amazingly good and later a BX19GTI that also outclassed all the others IMO. It flew!
