I want to service the electric motor on a Lucas 5SJ Screenjet but not sure how the motor is attached to the pump housing, there are no visible screws?

All advice appreciated.

Regards,
Paul

Hi
Unless the lower tube, containing the impeller, unscrews from the top plate/motor assembly (probably unlikely).
Then I would suggest that the black housing is a snap fit.
1)It could have protruding tangs underneath going into holes in the white part,
or
2)there could be tangs sticking up from the white part engaging in recesses inside the black part.
Try inserting a very thin knife blade between the 2, try all the way round.
If you find 2 spots (possibly opposite each other) where it wont pass along then try pressing either side at those points and lifting. That tries an answer to (1)
Similar principle to those Bleach bottle tops which have points you have to squeeze in order to turn them.
If that doesn't work try pressing the other 2 sides this could bulge out the side to suit the possibility (2) above.

Having typed all that, this suggests corner dowels.

Slightly off-topic, but, looking at the diagram Penman posted above, the glass jar looks remarkably similar to a ''Bisto Best Gravy'' jar.

Indeed, I have done a comparison..... and the similarity is remarkable.

The price difference between a Bisto jar, and one from one of the posh equipment specialists,is also'remarkable'! Smile

I would, however, be reluctant to make & fit one such item to my Dellow....for weight reasons. [Plus, the prospect of getting gravy in my eyes whilst driving isn't one to relish.]
