Spot on!
I remember how excited I was when I went to a local car meet and saw an almost perfect, pre war Reliant delivery van. It was beautifully restored and sign written with the original owner's business. Lovely to see one again, but I do remember how unsafe they felt in the day. |

When we stopped at a shop we got a toot from an XJ who had followed us for a few miles previously.

Exchanged waves with the driver of a beautiful Riley RM (WVW ***) near Rettendon yesterday. Just for a moment I was plunged back to the early '50s, only spoilt by all the moderns around. _________________ Richard Hughes |

I drive a near 50 year old Landrover...bought it new when I was 23...trouble with old Landrovers they look like newish ones so not many waves from classic car owners...a young chap in a Beetle did wave a few weeks ago.
I get lots of flashers from people in modern Landrover products...I know I am a snob but I ignore them...and would never initiate a wave to one...prob think I was a knob.
Funny...I get waves from classic car owners when ridding my BSA Bantam...sharp eyes some of these guys.

I commute in an '87 Corvette and I do wave (roof is generally off) at older vehicles when I can, but to date, I've never had a wave back.. |

I get more waves from Modern Landrover drivers than I do from Series Land Rover drivers, I guess many of them are living the dream but without the reality.... any way, it's annoying me now so might be time for another change of vehicle..... |

I've had-a-go in a mate's series 1...at 45 mph, it's a very dodgy-do taking one's hand off the steering wheel, to wave... |

Yes I know that feeling, however, mine failed it's MOT on too much play in the steering,
and it turned out that the locating plate under the Steering Relay, was badly worn, allowing the whole steering relay to rock inside the chassis.
Might be worth checking, that's if the Series 1 has a similar set up of course?
This is the plate:
