Could anyone give me advice on how to trace the previous owners of a vehicle I am trying to find? DVLA does not have a record of the vehicle being MOT'd or on SORN.

The only thing I have is images and the registration number. The last known sighting of the vehicle was in Finchley in 1976. The image below is of the vehicle in 1972. The original registration number when it was imported from Australia was - RVC 295

The MG registration series hails from London, and I don't think any relevant old registration records survive.

RVC is Coventry, August 1955 onwards. There may be odd records around, you'd need to contact the Coventry History Centre. They may have info regarding its early owner(s), but won't know what happened to it once it was re-registered in London.

Thanks John,

That's the last known photo, taken in about 1976.

The bus was imported from Australia in about 1971 so that registration plate in the destination window might have nothing to do with the bus - could be a reg from a car previously owned by the owner of the bus at that time.

The bus was used in 1971/1972 as the tour bus of an Aussie band called Fraternity. It's lead singer Bon Scott went on to be the lead singer of AC/DC

I would think the best port of call is the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society:

I asked DVLC to research the history of the vehicle I'm restoring with a view to recovering the original trgistration number. I told them what little I knew, they sent me back all the information I had given them just presented differently

and not a jot more!

Cheers, Tony.
