Just browsing my Photobucket collection and came across this that was in my possession for a short while, it is now in Ireland, the photo was taken whilst it was with me
I think a picture says a thousand words.

This is worse than the mystery photos.
Is it a piston-ring-gapper-Omatic?
Or what? _________________ Mike - MVPeters at comcast.net

I believe it's for measuring pistons, piston rings, gudgeon pins, etc.

I suppose it could be used for that but I am not sure.
What you do is place the item to be measured inside the steel band on the plate, turn the knob and read the measurement from the window with scale in it, or something like that _________________ Paul

I would have thought the teeth along the top were simply there to measure the thickness of rings and the band measures the circumference/diameter of the ring.
