Jules, in Valetta, dropped me an email with this great photo of a local Dodge bus that is still in daily use. At one time there were many brightly painted buses like this in use, but I think their numbers are declining sadly. Does anyone else have pics of these brightly painted buses to hand? do you have any bob2?

Thanks for sending this pic over Smile

The front end is great, but the coach body seems to be an odd fit. It would work a bit better if it had more chrome on the passenger section.

Gorgeous contraption, though.

you should all come over in summer for a holiday Laughing

all buses are painted in those colours ie yellow with orange stripe and white roofs
I may be able to get some fotos and post here if u want, there's still lots of old buses in use but this is sadly getting to an end as more new ones are being ordered and the old ones retired!!!
Many of the buses bodeis are build over here by local craftsmen and thats why they seem odd!!!

Even certain pick ups like the minor would look odd near a uk spec one as all minors were sent as a cab and chassis and the rear was fabricated locally!!

Hi

Why does Britain have no interesting buses now, all we get are dirty diesel smoking things and the odd one than bends in the middle?

Cheers

Things may improve Buzzy...Just found this on a political website...

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t103/donthebat/2123070580_2761e88ea0_o.jpg

Boris is backing the futuristic clean, low emission, hydrogen-powered wheelchair and pushchair friendly double decker bus. So us cyclists will have two good reasons to support it, less chance of being crushed to death by a bendy bus or having to choke on diesel fumes. Autocar commissioned this design. Of course we were told by Ken that "only a dehumanised moron" would get rid of the Routemaster. Ken got rid of the Routemaster in 2004.

Londoners want, and tourists especially expect, to see the famous red bus silhouette against the backdrop of the Capital of the World. Bizarrely Ken's supporters now no longer able to object on disability legislation grounds now object on cost grounds. When have they ever worried about cost before? Boris is on to a populist vote winner here...

Sorry about political content but those of us who remember the big red buses with nostalgia may be in for a treat. Wonder if they will last as long as the Routemaster?
