CLASSIC CAR LOAN PROJECT.
PRESS RELEASE: 28th. November 2018.
...............................................................................
You could be driving a classic in 2019 – for FREE!
Yes, no catch! Are you up for the challenge of having a classic car to drive, free of charge, for the year?
We have the cars waiting ...we now need younger drivers to apply!
Through the Classic Car Loan Project, now in its third year, you may be eligible to have a classic car on loan for up to a year in 2019.
To be eligible you need to be, ideally, 25 years old or more with a full UK driving licence, facilities to securely garage the car, plus an interest and some aptitude to enter the classic car world.
Following the NEC Classic Motor Show, the project cars on offer have increased in number – two of the cars being on display at the event. A 1934 Austin 7 saloon attracted admiring glances as it rotated on the PWA7C Club stand and a Ford Model A was also prominent on the Model A Ford Club GB stand, accompanied by current ‘borrower’ Sara-Jane Jordan.
Our new additions, following the show, are a 1949 Alvis TA14 saloon owned by Alvis club member Jack Meredith and a 1997 Volvo 740 Estate loaned through the Volvo Enthusiasts Club by Sean Skeet.
Ok, what are the cars on offer for 2019?
1929 Ford Model A Phaeton (that’s a tourer)
1934 Morgan Super Sports ( 3 wheeler )
1934 Austin 7 saloon
1936 Austin 7 Ruby saloon
1949 Alvis TA14 saloon
1951 Morgan Sports (3 wheeler)
1956 Ford Anglia (100E Model)
1960 Vauxhall Victor saloon
1968 Morris Minor Traveller (that’s a woodie estate)
1983 Austin Maestro
1997 Volvo 740 Estate.
Check the website for latest additions and news – www.classiccarloanproject.co.uk
How do I apply? Contact the project manager Bob Wilkinson as soon as possible on bobwilkinson49@hotmail.co.uk
Bob explained: “The project is well managed throughout, with an agreement between the car owner and borrower, covering care and maintenance during the loan period.
“Long-standing project supporter Peter James Insurance is once again contributing to the insurance - there’s none better in the classic car world.”
He added: “For some of the cars on offer I would envisage having some applications from those who may already own a more modern classic and are looking to experience an older car. Adding the Alvis and the Volvo broadens our range of cars considerably”
“Apart from new enthusiasts, this is an excellent opportunity for clubs to get involved in a sound project aimed at encouraging the next generation into this wonderful pastime we have enjoyed over the years. Clubs aspire to help the next generation and here is a well-tested, golden opportunity.”
Cheryl Maybury, director of Peter James Insurance, said: “Though we never had any doubt from the moment we became involved, we are delighted that this fantastic project is really blossoming.
“We’re sure that the breadth of vehicles on offer this coming year will attract a great deal of applications from those looking to experience for themselves what life is like behind the wheel of a classic.”
Other great news is that Duckham’s Oil has agreed to sponsor the project to add to Peter James Insurance and Longstone Tyres. All these companies are keen to support a venture to attract the next generation into the world of classic motoring. _________________ Rick - Admin

I recall when this was first muted and I must admit I was pessimistic, but it does seem to be growing. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

New Younger Drivers Wanted!
The Classic Car Loan Project is gearing up for a 4th.year phase in 2020 with 15 cars on offer to younger enthusiasts to borrow for the year....for free! Applications are invited for a range of cars from the 1929 Ford Model A through to modern classics such a 1980’s Volvo or Maestro. (See pics. attached).
The project has been successful in giving younger enthusiasts an extended experience with a classic with good support from owners and car clubs. The important insurance is covered by the Peter James Insurance Company with a specially tailored policy covering all parties. The premium is also reduced by the company sponsorship.
The current recipients of the cars have attended classic shows throughout the year, supported club events, and even travelled to Le Mans. All this plus having a great experience with family and friends on local picnic runs .....even dressing up for Goodwood!
Project Manager Bob Wilkinson said, “The project is providing a realistic experience for younger drivers who maybe cannot afford a classic just yet .... but will have ownership as an aim very soon. Apart from the fun they have had to get their hands a bit dirty when doing general under bonnet checks....as we do with older cars”
Readers, preferably over 25 years of age with secure storage, can apply to have a car in 2020. Contact Bob Wilkinson via the website www.classiccarloanproject.co.uk where there is a list of cars on offer.
Apply now .....you could be driving a classic next year!

Just thumbing through an old Classic Car Weekly from 31st Jan 2018, low and behold I see a large advert from the Morris Register showing the Series E as part of the Morris Registers younger driver initiative. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |
