Calling 1300 Crossflow experts.
I intend sourcing such an engine for my Rochdale. I can find several 1300 engines but what does the team think are my chances of finding a 1300GT?
Or is it easy enough to find GT bits and upgrade a bog-standard?
I would also need the ancilliaries, gearbox and propshaft. |

I find Ebay is a very useful tool for 1100/1300 stuff. I got a running standard 1300, plus well worn gearbox for £103 a couple of years back, it came complete inc. a 34/34 twin choke Weber, 9 months ago I got a GT head, ported with big valves, new guides and seals for £61 inc postage (off a S.African import Mexico reshell job). Lots of people are buying African imports and upgrading the engines, and the little 1300 is of little value. A complete 1300gt might be like rocking horse poop though as they were fitted to 1300E's, it is easier to buy the bits and assemble your own spec, standard 1 3/4" bore 1300gt exhaust manifolds are usually well used and welded when a new 2" tube manifold is around £100. Early GT's have flat pistons and recessed valve, post late 1970 have flat heads and pocketed pistons. 1600 Mex/1300 gt heads are the same, as long as you get the pre/post 1970 bit right _________________ 1974 Mk1 Escort. |
