Such a waste. This is what happens when the wrong people are put in charge.
Same with Norton. |

So sad to see another great company fail. The niche market where Bristol was so successful has mainly disappeared, in its heyday it fitted neatly between Bentley and Aston Martin, being a car of luxury as well as performance with superbly well balanced handling and costing somewhere between the two. _________________ old tourer

All is not quite lost if you want a new Bristol Fighter (and who wouldn't?):

If you have the ask the price, then you can't afford it I guess! _________________ "Once bread becomes toast, it can never go back! |

It seems that Hacketts are not the only source of 'new' Fighters (albeit with 6.2l V8s) if this is to be given any credence;

A search on Companies House suggests that the chap behind it is a Jason Wharton. Anyone heard of him? _________________ "Once bread becomes toast, it can never go back! |

I personally would prefer a real classic Bristol, I am particularly fond of the early 401 If I hadn't got bogged down with a rebuild I would probably be winging it over to Nottingham to see this one...

The early models had (in my opinion) a quite exceptional dashboard. Too much for some I expect...

...and then carry on to Chesterfield to look at this one

Yes I saw that one too. I expect it is the better car. If I were to buy one, however, I would try and find a tidy early car with the dash that I prefer. I just love the 401 shape but I am also aware that they have one of the most costly engines to rebuild. I have seen nice examples with a Volvo engine fitted at a much reduced price but it would need to be extremely attractively priced to tempt me. |
