As we are all in lockdown and events were cancelled, we, like many others up and down the country displayed our vehicles on our own driveway and had a tea party in the garden.
This is a couple of our Hillman's. The 1937 Hillman 80 Enclosed Limousine and the 1947 Hillman Minx, which is a 1940 model just reintroduced for a year or two after the war when civilian production resumed. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

It was actually quite disappointing for my Son really Rick, we spent most of the week before making a little display (tying this in with his school work) and having the cars out and then on the day only 3 or 4 people wandered by in the whole day.
He was ready and dressed up in his wartime uniform behind our fencing all ready to tell people about the cars etc.
He said afterwards that he really missed going to shows with the car so he could tell people about it. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

I know where you're coming from, this year's looking like a washout/disaster on every front. Hopefully your lad will get chance to do his display somewhere before the year is out. Could you do a Youtube vid together about the cars and VE Day? I remember you mentioning something about doing a vid or two.

This is what we made for part of the display. I had an idea that he liked. He cut, he masked off and he sprayed. I just had to help and show him what to do when needed.
At least next year he can use the display again at military events etc. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |
