Saw a beige (oh how very 70's!) Hillman Imp going South on A614 today and then, on my return trip, the same car going back North on the A614, just North of Nottingham.

Pulled up in Toddington North services this afternoon and parked behind a beautiful restored late 20s Lagonda DHC. You certainly don't see one of those very often. Will try to post a photo tomorrow.

Stopped in the yard this morning to collect something and sat outside one of the sheds was a lovely fawn coloured For Pop. I had a good look, nice and original even the seats and headlining. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

Either it is not roadworthy for some reason or it is a very sad person who trailers a vintage Bentley.
Half the trouble is the cost of insurance. High values can sometimes work against you! |

With due respect I don't think that insurance vis a vis the value of the car is that dear really. We all know that above a certain threshold the value, except for theft purposes, is unimportant because it costs far less to rebuild the car than the value. Going to the extreme, a Ferrari GTO would be a prime example. and then there is this example if you want another.
It is what is left of a C-type after a serious accident at the Le Mans Classic. Maybe the car was heading for Europe or another field far away? I have no idea, but from my experience at a far lesser level the insurance isn't that dear. |

For some their cars become so valuable they are afraid to use them on the road, of course in the case of the Bentley on the trailer it may have broken down or been on it way to a new owner. _________________ old tourer

From what I've seen at VSCC events and such like, Bentleys owners are some of the most hands-on, use it or lose it, vintage-car owners around, barring concours queens which can be found amongst any group of owners to a greater or lesser extent.

Well said Rick. Nicely summed up. If I had a Vintage Bentley I would use it frequently. |

Has anyone ever attended the Presteigne hill climb?
Many, many thousands of pounds worth of lovely old machines, almost unrecognisable because of the mud slathered all over them.
No concours queens there! |

Lovely VSCC trials....
This seems to be the way to get use out of a vintage[PVT?] car that may be nothing like in a decent bodily condition? Model A Fords seem popular and sturdy. In the current climate [and according to the current MSuk, and VSCC covid-conscious rules....fun for the whole family...since a big 4 seater needs the weight of all the family...synchronised bouncing....? _________________ Dellow Mk2, 1951 built, reg 1952.

Lovely morning here and after getting some jobs finished on the big Hillman my Dad and I thought the car needed a run, we took her out round the village and others must have been thinking likewise.
We were passed by a lovely vintage Triumph motorcycle and then parked outside the village hall was a very tidy blue Austin A40. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |
