Someone has picked up a bargain, I would think.
I bet the paint would take a nice shine and the interior could be gently refurbished. |

It just shows that while prices for popular mainstream cars go a bit silly sometimes, there are real bargains around if you're willing to look at less obvious alternatives.

Obviously bought by someone hoping to make a quick profit; now for sale at £3,995.

It’s strange how some cars fetch silly amounts while other often better cars struggle to make enough to warrant the restoration cost, _________________ old tourer

It's a bit off using the H&H auction photos in the ad, not even bothering to take their own. |

I could have bought a fine looking 1936 Standard flying 10 for £50 in 1973. I just fell for the styling. As a student, I didn't have the cash and no one would lend it to me. I have never forgotten the sheer frustration...
(A similar car also with divided rear window like this one)

That looks nice Ray, Standard were I believe were the first manufacturer to introduce independent front suspension on smaller cars along with Vauxhall on larger cars, they were also the first British car maker to offer a V8 engine in a non luxury car, although all their cars were well appointed for the time with such luxuries as town & country horns ash trays in the rear and picnic tables on larger model’s _________________ old tourer

Standard always produced good-quality motors; unfortunately they suffered (and still do) from their name which became synonymous with basic rather than high standards. _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

Much as I like the look of the blue Standard, it's hard to justify the price when you could buy this one for a couple of thousand more:

Charming as it is, it does seem to have the same issue with the bottom of the rear doors. I presume it is to be found on all Standards of this period. A wooden frame? |
