I just thought this looked earlier and more interesting than the seller suggests.
Has priming taps and looks to have a reversing gearbox.

According to your second link, Peter, this is an American Universal Flexifour Marine engine, built in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, confirmed by the photo in the listing showing a Made in USA plate. _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline
