A bit of a long shot. Does anyone know of a company that would make a one off engine and gearbox mount?
I have searched google and spoke to a couple of companies but to no avail. I appreciate it won’t be cheap to make a one off and I am prepared to pay but first obstacle is to find someone.
Thanks in advance. _________________ Hillman minx convertible. Lanchester LD 10 |

Are you looking for a fabricator, or someone to make custom metalastik-type mounts? |

Thanks guys. The mounts are for the Lanchester. There are some available for other Lanchester models but not the Ld10. I have the old mounts that have broken up they just need new rubber bonding on.
Someone elsewhere has suggested cutting my own rubber and gluing. Not as solid as vulcanised mounts but apparently there is a glue called GOOP that gives results close to vulcanising. _________________ Hillman minx convertible. Lanchester LD 10 |

Yes I was aware of these mounts but sadly it would seem they were not fit for purpose with , as far as I am aware, most reporting as failing prematurely. _________________ Hillman minx convertible. Lanchester LD 10 |

That is definitely unacceptable.!!
I am sure you have been through all the options or you would not have arrived at this situation. Personally, I would try and find a suitable substitute or make/modify one from a more reliable source.
Unfortunately, I don't think anyone will do a "one off" but if, as you say, the present supply is not fit for purpose perhaps there is sufficient demand for a small run of quality mounts.?
Good luck, anyway. |

If you have the metal parts I wonder if you could fine a simple engine mount that you cold bolt in between you metal parts?

Yes that is an option. I have been looking at generic mounts to see if it is possible. One of the obstacles is that, unlike the majority of engine mounts I am familiar with, the engine in the Lanchester does not sit on the mount rather the mount is positioned so there is a shear force acting on it ( which is probably why a poorly made mount failed prematurely) _________________ Hillman minx convertible. For example: tinyurl.com/hadf54ss
These are angled and thus have a proportion of shear force to withstand.

Speak to Neil a Bonded Motor Spares:
https://www.bondedmotorspares.co.uk/
don't be put off by the fancy website! they are a 2 or 3 man outfit used to doing small jobs, however rubber to steel bonding is done under pressure and heat and that requires dies so expect tooling costs, this may make a one off cost prohibitive.
