|
|
Having wanted one for a long time the opportunity presented itself to buy my dream car a 1953 Sit up and Beg Ford Anglia. Body work is in great condition and has matching chassis and engine numbers along with the original paperwork.
The plan is to make this into a daily driver and have already started the process of sourcing parts etc.
Rough Plan below, I initially wanted to keep within the 8 point rule but this seems impossible to maintain while retaining all the comforts that I want for a daily driver so will now be a BIVA build which allows for quite a bit more freedom:
105e Rear Axle
105e front hubs for disc conversion
Engine swap for a mid 90s engine
Internal roll cage
seatbelts
heaters
replace floor pan
reskin roof

No reason not to run the vacuum wipers off a modern engine.

I wonder how the narrow wheels and cross ply tyres will handle all that extra power in the corners? ... or is that what the roll cage is for? |

The roll cage tubing could also serve as a Vacuum Reservoir. |

Somebody has to say it:
If it's as largely original as it appears to be, I'd leave it alone. _________________ Mike - MVPeters at comcast.net

If it were a basket case then I would have no qualms about it but it's not my car so not by business. |

It does not have the typical sagging top rear door window. Also the front wheel arch in combination with the wheel does not seem Volvo.

Ford Falcon wagon from about '62 maybe. Has that sort of look about the front fender. |

they will be banded to allow some extra grip and a better ride overall or at least that is the aim |

The wheel is cut in half and a ‘band’ of metal welded in to make the wheel wider while still looking stock from the side. _________________ Hillman minx convertible. Lanchester LD 10 |
