If you have broadband and haven't seen this BBC4 program then you might find this worth watching. It's a mix of newsreel footage with its fair share of period street scenes.

I watched this programme last night on tv, it was very good with its excellent period newsreel footage - just loved the posh English accents. I'm a lover of old rock & roll as well as old nuts & bolts, so it was a double-hit for me and "I'll give it 5" (remember that catch phrase?). Cool

I thought it safer using plain English as my imitation Liverpool accent "spoken" with my broad Glasgow accent might be untranslatable!

Aw right an at, by ra way Jimmy! Very Happy

Why a Liverpool accent? Wasnt the girl (Janet, Janice?) who said that from Birmingham?

Or is my memory playing tricks again?

Probably you're right UJ - my Glasgow brain may have changed her accent as it entered through my ears (or could it be my memory is crap) - you can't imagine what its like to live in here! Rolling Eyes Very Happy

scotty: I found this link to the girl. It should bring back some memories for some others as well as you and I.
