VSCC Oulton tomorrow, usually loads of interesting cars and clubs park up, in addition to the racing. _________________ "Once bread becomes toast, it can never go back! |

I sort-of agree, except that I like to show my car and the free shows are very few and far between. After the last 14-15 months I am aware that some which were previously free now make a charge. I just look at whether I'm prepared to pay the price and go from there. Another way to look at it (for most shows) is that I get better parking and a discounted entry fee, just for going in my classic car and perhaps getting there a bit earlier and staying a bit later than I might otherwise do.
But we've talked about this at length before. I understand your point of view, and our local multi-marque club took exactly the same stance as you in the early 90s, we still had a full show calendar despite that. Nowadays it's not quite the same, unless you count the smaller village fete kind of show - which is fine, if that's what you want. I need to have something to do all day, and I judge each one on whether the amount I pay is worth it for what I "get".
Back on topic, CarFest North is scheduled for July 23rd - 25th at Bolesworth again. That has a charge for exhibitors, I won't say what it is for fear of reviving the discussion. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

Decent enough day at Weston Park, it stayed dry all day. Autojumble was a bit small, but there was a fair turn-out of cars. Queue on the way in wasn't good though - there seemed to be a lot of delays with every car in front of me, which isn't good with old cooling systems. My car got very warm, reading much higher than it has before, though there might be a voltage regulator issue there too. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

Capesthorne yesterday was very well attended, and it too had queues to get in which will have tested a few cooling systems. We only stayed a few hours due to the heat which our mutt probably wouldn't have enjoyed much more of.

I debated whether to go to Capesthorne, but ended up doing something unrelated to cars instead. I did imagine a lot would be very similar to Weston Park as it's the same organisers - it's certainly been the case in previous years.
Carfest North is on next weekend at Bolesworth Castle. I was thinking of taking mine but have opted not to for this year, for a number of reasons. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

Slightly outside of the border, the Whitchurch Motor Club have their "Anything Goes" meeting at Hampton Roundabout on July 30th in the evening. This is the event that used to be held at Tushingham. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

Decent turn-out at Audlem Transport Festival today, probably a combination of good weather and a desire to get out again. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

North Cheshire Classic Car Show
NCCCC's Annual show is to be held at Claremont Farm is a green field site with plenty of well drained ground for the classic cars and areas for public parking. There is also a farm shop, cafe and other amenities on the site. Last years show was successful with almost 300 classic vehicles and 40 autojumble/stalls attending. A classic car show on hard standing, so no mud. Once again all profits are shared between Vauxhall's nominated charity (currently Help for Heroes) and local charities.

Slightly further afield (and not Cheshire) there is a Vintage Transport thing at the Severn Valley Railway: https://www.svr.co.uk/SEItem.aspx?a=108 _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

Tatton Park classic show is on August 21st / 22nd - my pass has arrived, so I'd better get the hatch fixed. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |
