So we are moving house and I will need to also move both my cars, I have never done this before so any help/guidance would be welcome.
It is not a local move. We are moving from west Northants (near Daventry) to just outside of Cheltenham. At the moment the thought of moving house and trying to juggle moving two cars fills me dread. I shall use a transport company to trailer the cars. Just interested if anyone has had to do this how they made it happen.
Thanks in advance. _________________ Hillman minx convertible. Lanchester LD 10 |

Not much help I am afraid. I moved house a couple of times when I was much younger, last time in 1993. Plus a big garage move in 199 or so. I do not think I will ever move again.
Good luck with the move. You will still be searching for things years and years later, at least that is what I had to do. _________________ a car stops being fun when it becomes an investment |

We were lucky enough to only move from one end of the village to the other!
Even then moving 2 cars and clearing the garage took a great deal of time and effort. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

We moved, (2000+ miles) and had our "stuff" in storage for 3 months. Although some folk thought our spreadsheet was a little of an overkill it certainly made life easy. A lot of tools and hardware came with us. For shorter distances, always an overnight, or two bag, a good torch /lamp and perhaps a little extra cash. |

When I moved from Shetland down to Worcestershire last September I brought my 1932 Morris Minor down in the back of a Renault Master and filled the empty space with other stuff. My 2CV was already down here and I hired a car to get me back to Aberdeen to catch the ferry back to Shetland. |

When we moved years back we were fortunate to have a couple of months' overlap. As even then there was a lot to move, we bought a Volvo 760GLE estate as a workhorse for towing and shifting junk duties. It did us proud. Bought for £125 with slipping auto box, a top-up of transmission fluid cured that, we owned it for a few months during the move then sold it on, still taxed and MOTd, for £100.
I dread having to do it again though ...

Yes, I’m in the middle of doing this right now.
Can thoroughly recommend Walsgrave Transport for your job. He is very helpful and reasonably priced. He is Coventry based so would be able to offer you a good price. He has a decent trailer and a winch. _________________ Richard Hughes |
