My father bought a 1936 Austin 10 Cambridge CVR27 in 1949 from a friend of my mother, who had owned it since new. and in the 1950's I learnt to drive in it. After i passed my test he would never lend it to me!
Just prior to buying it the car caught fire behind the dash and had to be rewired etc.
We did many trips in it all over the UK and it never broke down once.
I drove it for the last time to Stockport to the person who bought it off my father.
It is a pleasure to restore one's own car even people, who are not mechanical learn very quickly how relatively easy it is and you learn many new skills. |
