Hi Rick. Please can you check for me that the radiator grille is not actually brass?

You may just be pleasantly surprised.

Yes it is brass.

Spent a little time over Christmas and New Year working on the Prefect in the garage. Putting the fuel pump back together took a couple of attempts before it worked correctly off the car, but once it felt like it was operating with sufficient ooomphhhh I re-fitted it. Priming up took a couple of goes as initially it wasn't keen on functioning, but by rigging up a temporary fuel feed to run the engine off, with the pump's outlet disconnected, forced fuel through into the pump.

This and other tinkerings are covered in today's upload: https://youtu.be/SJhXN7ZcUiI

This afternoon was spent underneath the front of the Prefect, scraping & chipping away decades of caked-on mud. Not the best fun in the world but quite satisfying in a way, next little job I think will be to pull the front drums and have a peak inside. It'll also give me an opportunity to replace the rubber dust covers that protect where the brake cables pass through the backplates.
