For those familiar with the Audax range of the Minx and Gazelle, you may know that the door seals are unique in that they have a moulded section at the hinge side of the door, held in place with a metal strip.

It's part number 2229560 and 2229561 at the below link:

They are available but incredibly expensive and I can't source them in the UK. I've ordered some trim from Woolies as samples, so will see what I can do, but I was wondering if anybody else has had to fabricate a seal like this before?

This is the seal in question.

I hope the image shows -- we were taught how to upload using HTML code like this at school 20 years ago and I've not used it much since!

Not only are obsolete parts expensive but coming from the U.S.A. you can expect to double the price once shipping and duties have been added.

If you can't find a suitable substitute you just have to bite the bullet, I'm afraid. Sad

I assume you've seen this place, I don't know the cost of shipping from Oz nor have I used this company.

Rick,

I have bought parts from this company, but Austin bits, not Rootes. I have found their products to be good, and not too expensive. However, I have no idea how much they charge for mail and packaging.

Its weird being the same age as old people.
You are either part of the problem or part of the solution

Never heard of them, so thanks for sharing. Dropped them an e-mail.

As it happens, I have just ordered a set of quarter light vent seals and headlamp seals from Frank in Australia, but he does not do these door seals.

For four doors it was 500 USD, without taxes/customs.....

I had a similar situation with the MGA; the only door seals made that fit and both allow the door to be closed and provide a seal are made in the USA. I think I paid about £170 for a pair inc shipping and import/ VAT.

You could also try BASIS in NZ, they ship to the UK.
