Antigues Road show tonight from Sefton Park featured in it's what is this section. a multiple die cutter tool, a single tool with 24 different sized dies.

I'm surprised that after 40+ views no one has commented.
I can't at the moment do screen grabs and then edit to a picture to place here.

I've never seen a die cutter like that before. A bit unwieldy if you are in an area restricted for space.

I wonder what thread size they were. I would guess Whitworth form.

I would guess that it's normal usage would be with the rod fastened in a Vice and the die then used to run down the exposed portion as far as required for the length of thread needed.

It looks to me like the thing would be rather unwieldy to use like that.

My guess is it was intended more for cleaning up existing threads than cutting new ones, rather like die nuts if anyone remembers those but with a full set of dies in the one tool.

The fact that none of us have seen one before probably tells us all we need to know about how handy a tool it was to use... Laughing Laughing

I agree. It would be unwieldy.

Yes, I have a full set of BSF die nuts that occasionally come in handy!
