|
|
I tow a few things the bulk of which are trailers with traditional Bradley hitches, and in the time honoured way, I grease the hitch socket to minimise wear. I will now be towing a caravan with the Al-Ko friction hitch, where any hint of grease could contaminate the hitch friction lining.
Clearly I could clean the tow ball up with brake cleaner before attaching the Al-Ko hitch, however its a bit of a pain as I frequently need to shift the trailers / caravan around due to the tight way everything is stored.
I can't be the first person to have this challenge? It's not the end of the world if I do have to clean the ball every time; just a bit of an inconvenience, especially when you are just shifting things around.
any thoughts?

Could you use one of these?

If you fitted the 2 balls with one at one end of the slider and the other one upside down at the other end. The through pins wold enable you to switch relatively easil. Plastic ball covers should keep road dirt etc of them when not being used. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Hi Penman, Rick, it is my modern that I bought new last Sept, however getting the factory electric tow bar would have taken forever, so the dealer fitted a removable swan neck, I could get a 2nd swan neck (about £100) to use with the Al-Ko, seems a bit over the top, but at least no chance of contaminating the Al-Ko friction material
