Anyone any recommendations on a suitable rad leak sealer?

I suppose Radweld works as effectively as many others?
Then there's this?

https://fernox.com/product/leak-sealer-f4-500ml/

Not as cheap as the auto leak sealers, but for older vehicles' with cooling systems which have materials not seen these days in cars, maybe more effective? [Including aluminium!!]

Obviously the Fernox stuff [for central heating systems] treats a far larger system than found in most cars, but I guess some proportionality should work?

The difference I suppose is that most auto leak sealers aren't intended to be 'permanent?'

Whereas the Fernox stuff is..

Rolls Royce purportedly used Fernox Alphi-11 antifreeze in their older vehicles....stuff made for central heating systems as well...

Thanks chaps, I had a good look round yesterday and K Seal certainly has some very good reviews. I've ordered some and will gladly give it a go.

i have used the egg method in my first consul when the rad was leaking, it worked for a while.

Apparently the trick is only to use the egg whites.

(That's an old yoke... Embarassed )

I recall shoving several of the 'dogs' doings' radiator sealers into the gaping maw of a Frazer Nash radiator, on a Land's End Trial {MCC] pre-this century...

The leaking stopped, but I cannot recall whether that was due to the sealers, or the engine simply running out of water?
Rendering such assistance [it was at Minehead rugby club halt]...showed me how incredibly skimpy these Nashes were....One didn't really get very much for one's money!

So, yesterday we took the Commer to a fairly local show, bout 12 miles each way.

We noticed though that a white froth started leaking from the overflow pipe and at some points the froth started bubbling out the rad cap???

She didn't feel overly hot to touch and she certainly wasn't steaming.

Anyone experienced that after they've added Rad Weld?

I think it is fairly common. I was advised to flush the rad to remove surplus chemical and refill with clean water / antifreeze mix and the foaming will disappear. The rad weld will have done it's job with the leak. Once sealed it can't do anything more so the surplus is not needed in the system.

That's what we'll do now, flush it through and fill it up again and see how she goes.

Don't think we'll do anymore shows now, although there is a steam up at a local pub next weekend, aside from that we will now have plenty of time for tinkering.
