I suppose there had to be a 'first'.

In 1909 the first roundabout (or perhaps more accurately the first 'gyratory traffic flow system') in the U.K. was created in the Garden City of Letchworth.

The 'Sollershott circus' is an intersection of Broadway, Spring Road and Sollershott East and West and featured in a comedy film "The World's End" and was planted out as it would have been when new.

It was originally intended as a pedestrian 'refuge' but some twenty years later it was decided to order traffic to flow in one direction around it.

. Note the period style lighting.

That's a nice shot, Mike. There is even a car on the roundabout. Any ideas ?

I was going to suggest a Model T run about but I can't find one with a side mount in that position.

Perhaps the car is another Delahaye?

Maybe our pioneer lady motorist again?

The year is circa 1912.
