That blue is a modern shade, to my eyes... but it is photograph on a computer screen and perhaps it looks fine in reality.

As for the black bumpers, maybe they are painted as the owner is unable to afford rechroming or replacement, in which case well done for getting the car on the road in the meantime! Some people use silver paint, that never looks right either but I would rather see the car complete and being used rather than gathering dust until the owner can scrape up the cash for some cosmetic bits and pieces.

Caught a glimpse of a Vauxhall PA Velox or Cresta, white/mid blue, with rear wheel spats, drove past earlier.

Oh, turns out it does tow, but a single-wheel trailer. I didn't get chance to see how it's attached to the car.

long ago Practical classic or similar hada design for a single wheeler. Good for ferries because it could be off loaded into the car and then folded up against the boot to be a shorter vehicle for a lower ferry fare.

It is pretty odd. Surely if you overload one side or the load slides when you corner it may end up toppling?

Perhaps it's fixed to the bar in two places - I'm trying to think whether that would work or not. I have just watched him reverse it down a driveway and into the road without any trouble, though he might just be good at reversing with a trailer. He's doing up a house over the road, I'll find the binoculars tomorrow and get a better look. Or I could go across and ask him, though that sounds a bit too much of a step.

The one I mentioned obviously had 2 bumper fixings, so thaat it would hinge up against the boot.

The rear wheel must pivot then, would make reversing very easy Smile

That sounds too much like an outsize supermarket trolley for my liking Laughing

Quote:
My family camping setup in 1965, a one wheel trailer with 2 attachment points at back of the Mini - the single wheel was a great bit of engineering, a rotating arm with rubber suspension.. we travelled all over UK with this with 2 adults 2 kids, a frame tent, a small tent for the kids, and all the cooking gear, 2 burner gas stove and all that. The trailer became the camping kitchen and table inside the frame tent. I thought this was normal at the time.
