Would anyone happen to have a drawing or photograph of a Sceptre Mk2 exhaust system? My car has a rear silencer that's more holey than the Pope. It's beyond repair.

I was wondering if an exhaust from a modern car might be persuaded to donate a rear section but the Sceptre is in a tight lock-up which my 23-year-old self might have been able to access for a butchers but my 63-year-old self can't get near. I can't push the car out because I wouldn't be able to push it back in again. Needless to say, it's not drivable at the moment.

So if anyone could post an illustration of the Mk 2 exhaust or has any idea whether there's a modern car whose rear silencer might be sort of interchangeable I'd be very grateful.

Bruce

I'll try to remember to ask my mate at the weekend if he has any old exhaust catalogues, that might show enough to figure out the silencer dimensions.

Hello Brewster. I assume you will need to extract the car at some point? Why not get a friend or two to help get the car out so you can work on it then perhaps they could help push it back in when you are done.

I personally would join an owners club and see if they had a spare exhaust. If they can't help supply one they will have met the problem before and probably have a solution.

You may need to get an exhaust system made. I have used Gough's with good results. https://www.pdgough.com

Some of the older exhaust system makers may still have the drawings or samples

Thanks for all the replies and especially to Peter for the illustration. That's very useful although the pipe that kicks up over the rear axle might be a problem.

I reckon it would be about ?200 - ?300 to have a custom piece made locally which I'm reluctant to spend until I've decided whether or not I'm going to keep the car.

In the meantime I've been given permission by a local exhaust fitter to help myself to any silencers in his skip that might be usable so I'll monitor that for a few weeks just in case.

Sorry about the repeated replies. The system kept throwing up error messages as soon as I hit submit and it didn't appear that my reply was being published.

Whereabouts are you Bruce? I might have something that would suit.
