Back in 1974 our everyday car was a Ginetta G15 and we used it as our wedding car. We added about 13000 miles to it before selling it for something more suitable as a family car. I have managed to keep track of it and one of the subsequent owners used it for track racing and hill climbs and won enough trophies to cover the roof with them.

Well last weekend we travelled down to Norfolk to visit the current owner and to take some photos. The last time I had seen it "in the flesh" was 50 years ago. It hasn't changed much but unfortunately we have.

Please forgive my ignorance but all I really know about the Ginetta is that it was like a sporting Hillman Imp.

Tell us more!!

When I had it the engine was 875cc with twin Strombergs. https://www.automobile-catalog.com/model/ginetta/g15.html#gsc.tab=0
It now has a roll cage fitted and a fire extinguisher and engine cut-off etc.

According to the competitive owner:
"It now has a 998cc rebuilt 2 years ago after 8 years of hillclimbs and sprints driven to all events, with new pistons and liners it is back to 99bhp, close ratio
gearbox, 0 to 60 in 8.9 secs"

What Motor Sport had to say: https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/archive/article/january-1969/54/the-ginetta-g15/

Fantastic photos Peter. I love the 'then and now' comparisons, but unfortunately we all grow old!

Its weird being the same age as old people.
You are either part of the problem or part of the solution
