Hopefully Trundles will get an airing. It will be interesting to dee if there is any improvement on the hills with the new coil and condenser.

The Cheshire Run (old lorries) is on so I hope to go over to the halfway halt for a mooch around, in the pickup all being well.

Our club is doing a short run, it can be tricky to find people to organise longer runs in a small club. Last year we ended up at the Boat at Erbistock for lunch, which worked well, but the weather was rotten.

I'll be heading down to Ye Olde Hobnails Inn, Little Washbourne (B4077), just north of Prescott Hill Climb, for the VMR (Vintage (Morris) Minor Register) organised run. We meet at 8:30am at the pub for breakfast, and will visit the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway Trust, at Toddington, then a visit to the museum at what was the airfield of RAF Defford, before arriving at The Old Bull, in Inkberrow, for lunch. The landlord of The Old Bull is a VMR member, and has a rare 1932 Minor Tourer.

On such a lovely sunny Drive it Day how could we not get out in the car??

We didn't take part in anything organised, we just headed out round the levels and had lunch in Wells before looping back into Glastonbury.

When stopped for lunch in Wells we were inundated with people looking round the car or taking pictures and just having a good old chat.

Exactly what Drive it Day is about.

We headed out in the pickup to watch the Cheshire Run and meet up with a few people in the morning, Harley took grandad over in the MGB. In the afternoon he and I took the B out again, and I gave the MX5 a run out afterwards. Saw a number of interesting cars out and about too (MGB V8, Morgan, Bentley T1 etc).

I stayed at home. Sorry, but I don't 'do' specific drive-it days...I run around in mine as & when I feel like it...Not really into 'showing!'

Besides, I couldn't think of anywhere I particularly wanted to go yesterday....Everywhere likely to have been too crowded for me!

I also don't like doing things for no specific reason. It could be seen as a waste of petrol ...but if seeing an old car on the public highway reminds people that they are still about then I suppose it is worth it.

As it turned out I discovered that the 'new' Austin Seven bronze carb that I fitted to Trundles had been secretly leaking. The petrol tap was also faulty so gravity had drained what was left in the scuttle tank.

The needle valve seems O.K. so I think the float chamber level must need correcting. This entails melting the solder around the needle and moving it. Not a difficult job but I wouldn't have had the time to do that and go out for more petrol.

I have also been volunteered into erecting a plastic 'potting' shed ...so my own free time is is short supply. Sad
