I hope you didn't use the Runcorn Bridge or go past any ANPR cameras if it was like that all the way home.

Nothing incorrect about the number plates or signage on the rear of a vehicle being towed.

All laid down in the RTAs.

ANPR systems that find themselves 'confused' are then subjected to human interference.

Anything else apart from that which can be seen in the photo is incorrect and likely unlawful.

Especially those who merrily go down the road towing another vehicle, with all their hazard warning lights flashing!
Thoroughly unlawful,to the extent it is mentioned in the Highway Code.

The reasoning is simple.....How does one indicate one's intentions if the indicators are used as hazard warning lights?

Yet oh so many over-pompous {IE, think they know better??} drivers can be seen doing just that, every week of the year.

Alastair: The Thames crossing regularly double charges, and ANPR could easily report an untaxed with no MoT s on the road. The pictures will only be checked by a human (A if there is a mismatch between the registration and what Swansea has, and (B the recipient of the charge notice makes an appeal.

Always tape over the number plate of the car being towed or the one on a small car transporter like the ones I used to drive at Vehicle Concepts.

The question I would ask is how much of a market is there for a car like this once it has been tidied up and has a new M.O.T.?

I did pay £6500 for the car, but that was 17 years ago! So to be transparent, I bought the car for my eldest when she was 17, it then got past down to her siblings, finally to my youngest who openly admitted that he would just drive it "until the engine falls out" which he has more or less done!

The car in good condition would be worth less than £1000 , as a trade in its only worth between £100 - £200 .

So why have I got it? well simply because the engine , gearbox and diff is fine, it has no structural issues, now if I could have bought a car for ?100 in this condition in the 80's I'd have snapped your hand off! I believe I can get it through an MOT spending around £150 on parts, probably the same to sort the bodywork myself, and it will be a great little run-around, cars like this are scrapped daily.

I also want to satisfy myself that I can fix stuff on cars made later than the 70'S

Dave

I absolutely agree...

On that house of ill repute [Youtube] there are many instances of stuff being 'brought back from the deeed!'

Not to annoy our blessed host but, Hubnut has done just that with a Ford Ka..

Current at least 3 videos featuring the escapades with this Ka

I have seen two of my neighbour's scrap their small cars when they failed the M.O.T. because they had been given outrageous quotes from the local garage.

I wish they have offered me the cars as I could have easily returned them to the road. Where the garage will only fit new parts I could have sourced good used ones for a fraction of the price ,,,and of course there would be no labour charge.

One of the cars was a really nice Citroen AX; a great little car. The other was a Peugeot 106; a less than smart example but with potential non the less.

Such a waste.
