| The weather forecast isn't very good for Sunday morning, so probably a smaller turn out. I definitely won't be there as my car is still away and I'm at a friend's party in Llangollen too. |

A reasonable turnout yesterday at The Old Piggery meet, but the rain started around 10.30 and I left shortly after. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

The "Off The Rails" meeting is on at Apedale Heritage Centre, T5 7LB, this coming Sunday 10am to 2pm or thereabouts, gates to the place open at 9.30am.
I might go to this if the weather is half decent as I haven't been there for ages. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

A decent turnout for the Piggery meeting last Sunday, there was talk that there might be one on December 28th if the weather looks reasonable. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

There's a meeting at Apedale Heritage Centre (nearly in Cheshire) this coming Sunday 14th December, and the Piggery meeting on the 28th is confirmed subject to weather. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

It's nice to see some folk out and about in their classic cars but I won't be joining them while there's salt on the roads. I have enough trouble finding time to wash my everyday car this time of year, without adding a classic to the laundry list.
Talking of New Year's Day, I believe there's a car meet at the Cholmondeley Arms too.

^ I know what you mean, Saturday morning had been quite frosty but it was a lot better on Sunday, even if it didn't feel it. Very good turnout, it's a while since I've seen it that busy even in the summer.
You're quite right, the Cholmondeley Arms meeting is also on New Years Day. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

Entries are open for the Weaver Wander on May16th, and for display vehicles at the Oulton Park Gold Cup which is back to August Bank Holiday weekend. Weather permitting, there's a plan for the first meeting at The Old Piggery cafe at Combermere for Sunday 15th February. Entries are open for Audlem Transport Festival on Sunday 26th July. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

Thanks for those dates, Mike. Audlem clashes with the Cholmondeley Arms car meet on 26th July, and as that won't cost me a fiver to attend and is virtually on my doorstep and will leave my afternoon free, I know which of the two I'll be going to if the weather is dry. |

I've never entered the car into the Audlem event, largely because I don't like slow cavalcades like the one they start with (though I believe that might be optional now), and more recently because it clashed with the Gold Cup. I might go along and have a look, I used to enjoy doing that. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

The slow cavalcade wouldn't bother me too much, my Range Rover was designed with sufficient cooling to tow 3 tonnes across the Sahara, so overheating shouldn't be an issue, plus I could put it in 2nd or 3rd gear in low range and just let it pootle along on tickover. It's the thought of being effectively trapped in the static display field all afternoon that puts me off.
To be honest, I don't know why they don't bin the transport festival thing and just have a series of Sunday morning car meets on the green opposite the pub instead. Or perhaps a couple the months either side of the festival? I bet the community pub would do well with bacon/sausage butty sales and possibly pub lunches afterwards.
Anyway, talking of Cholmondeley, as we were above, they're showing two dates again this year (June and Sept to be confirmed) for the Cholmondeley Castle Classic Car Show events, so I'll more than likely book into one or both of them, as it's only 10 minutes away.
The 1st meet at the Cholmondeley Arms is on Sunday 26th of April, so will try to get along there if the weather is dry. Hope to see you there. |

I have my fingers crossed that they don't clash the early Cholmondeley Castle meeting with Tatton Park as they did last year. Hopefully will be at the Arms in April too. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |
