I became so fed up with that kind of sloppy presentation, I stopped taking classic car magazines altogether. I also cancelled The Automobile Magazine when - against all their previously held principles - they started eulogising over hot rods. Not for me, thank you.

It is a shame that a magazine which considers itself an authority doesn't do its homework properly, and couldn't find a proper 544 to illustrate the article.
Disappointing.

I had a subscription to CCW for a few years. That was enough. I would not regard CCW an authority on anything.
Before the internet I was reading most of the classic car magazines to feed my information hunger. Classic & Sports Car is still one of the best but I cannot stand the increasing emphasis on too modern cars (80s and 90s cars, yes I know these are already 30-40 years old but too new for me).

Only The Automobile for me now, good writing, properly researched articles, good photography. They have a cut-off date for car history around 1960, I would have liked it if that was 1970 but hey you cannot have it all. Some of the articles are not for me. Like Ray I have nothing with hot rods or pages long stories on 30s race cars but overall the mix is pleasing.
