yes indeed, sadly youtube is full of crappy AI nonsense with trucks & tanks that are not remotely like what the video is about.
the commentary is also a joke.
i can't see how we stop it tbh.

An old friend of mine - a motoring historian - used to fret about errors being repeated in new books... but now the problem seems to have expanded to the internet.

It is a shame.

I fear though that many people will see these AI generated videos and take it all in for being the truth....

I was asked what was the original colour of Bristol 401/3 cars engine bay. I wasn't sure so I asked Google. I was told it was light grey and even given the paint code and a lot of other information.

I have subsequently learned that the factory painted the engine bay of these cars matte black.

Another thing. If it hadn't been for my input AI would not have known that the Weston steam car was in fact a Grout imported from the U.S.A.

The list of AI errors is endless.

I watched it again this morning and the amount of issues I spot is huge.

In some shots the lorry is now left hand drive, it also has a US flag on wing. In other shots it now has a split screen and the colour is changed along with the grill now being quite different.

And another of the many things we noticed is that the grill badge has been changed to read 'Bedford' in one shot!!

Absolute rubbish.

Ai can be real "pain"!
A friend of mine has recently purchased a veteran Studebaker that although the previous owner had it dated as a 1918 model there was conjecture among some that it was actually "wrong" so he set about finding out for shure. We couldn't find anyone locally to verify it so "I" consulted AI about it, and AI was very insistent that it was a 1916 version and gave all sorts of reasons for it, most of which proved to be wrong. In the end, my friend contacted the Studebaker museum in Indiana, and I contacted the pre 1920s registrar for the Studebaker drivers club in the US and they both confirmed it was a Canadian built 1918 model. I realise this is different to people putting AI generated pictures online to spread misinformation, but I think as far as written AI interactions go, I think it reinforces that you don't believe everything AI says without checking it out. AI when answering questions is really only a pleasant interface with a computer search engine and can pull up wrong information from many sources and repeat them in a very confident way making many who believe without checking start to repeat all the wrong information, believing they are "right" because of a flawed electronic system.

I checked out a youtube page about "10 best Aussie built cars". One featured was a Chrysler Valiant VE. They raved on aout how good it was. Then I followed up with another youtube page listed "The 10 worst Aussie built cars", produced by the same 'authors'. I then learned that the Valiant VE was a dreadful car!

I have given up using Youtube for any car related subjects. Obviously some people use AI just to see theit names in print, but why????

Incidently, many years ago I owned a Chrysler VE Valiant and found it to be a good reliable car, but nothing outstanding.

You are either part of the problem or part of the solution

If you open a YouTube video and click on "more" in the description, it identifies how the video was made; if it says "Made with AI" I don't watch it.
