Hate to see them cut it into sections.
We have WWll subs over here on display and all they did was to cut the deck open so a staircase could be install for tourists to use.
Glad to see it isn't going to scrap! |

I've not managed to get a look at the U434 yet, but I have found out that it is not german, but russian...were they given such names to confuse the enemy? |

As promised, photos of the U434. If anyone is ever in Hamburg, its well worth a visit. As is the Miniature Wonderland for that matter, for those of us that are still kids at heart!

Is that a type XXI UJ?
I'm more familiar with the type VII like the one used in 'Das Boot' (an excellent portrayal for those who haven't yet seen it) |

When I first heard about it, I thought that it was a WW2 german U boat. It was only just before my trip I discovered that it was russian...
Its a Tango class boat from 1974 if I remember correctly. Still well worth a visit though. As is the rest of Hamburg, especially for those that have an interest in WW2 history. |
