George sent me an email, asking if I had any info on this unusual motorcar. I don't think that I do have anything, does anyone here recollect this maker??
"Can you give me any information about a car called SHEW. I understand there were only 2 made, and I've seen one today at Beamish museum in Co Durham. I was told SHEW stands for Seaham Harbour engineering works.
Yours faithfully
George Eadsforth."
thanks, R _________________ Rick - Admin

Typing "Seaham Harbour Engineering" into Google brings up a small number of sites that mention this very rare vehicle.
I found a photo of the Beamish vehicle. It would appear that research into this manufacturer is ongoing.
There were a number of companies tried their hand at car manufacturing around the turn of the century.
Here is one that I was familiar with when I lived in Yorkshire.

"Sheffield Simplex" will bring up other websites that feature this vehicle. |

Hi
If you go here http://www.east-durham.co.uk/seaham/seaham.htm and scroll down the Black pane there is a link to Transport click that and there are 2 pictures of the SHEW car and a number of other pictures of motorised transort in the area.
They seem to be "copy protected" so I couldn't do a direct link.
Edit.
I have just looked further in that picture link, there is another picture of the SHEW on the L&B in the 60s and an interesting looking 4 wheeled artic. |
