Now in its fourth year and held at Strathallan Games Park in Bridge of Allan, the Stirling Classic Car Club had approximately 450 cars attend this event today.
I unfortunately was on a tour with some American golfers and when we were talking earlier in the week I mentioned I was meant to be judging this show but unable because of work commitments.
The Americans said they would like to visit Stirling Castle and suggested I drop them there in the morning, they could wander around and I could go and judge the cars……..Thank you Marta and Wally :good1:
With 450 cars to check over it certainly was not going to be easy. There were 4 judges and we started with the private entries. Moving on from there we then judged the best club car, this caused a bit of frustration as some of the clubs could not make up their minds which car to enter, some clubs did not wish to enter, and some clubs tried mucking us about and told us they would finish lunch before choosing which car to enter :duh:
Eventually the judges managed to agree that 3rd prize should go to a Westfield, second prize to a 1968 Jaguar MkII and first prize to a 1959 MGA.
The club has a policy that none of their own members can win a prize but instead this year they have introduced a separate prize for best club car which deservedly went to a 1954 Alvis Special TC21/100 which was on her maiden voyage today after a 5 year restoration.
2nd 1st 3rd prize winners
1954 Alvis Special TC21/100
Alvis Interior
Morgan 3 wheeler
Morgan rear
Mercedes with genuine 28k on the clock
Dead right
Book today for your final hurl
2nd place winner

Glad you enjoyed the pictures J-R.
The Amazon was a beauty but I think the Alvis is a stunning car _________________ ROVER

I'm actually a little surprised that they awarded a 3rd place trophy to what is essentially a kit car. It even has the 'Q' reg plate.
It must have been real nice. _________________ Don't run your fingers over my truck & I won't run my truck over your fingers!

The Amazon was nominated 3rd prize but he left the ground an hour early before we had the chance to tell him..... So we then went to the 4th car which was the Q plate and gave him 3rd prize.......
Warning....Do not leave the show early....you may be a prize winner _________________ ROVER

Hi 47P2, Great pictures of a good day. Mine was the '62 Zephyr behind the pic of Ian Kilpatrick's MkIII Zodiac Hearse. Hope you'll be attending the Pre 67 Ford OC's Scottish Ford Day on the 6th July & bring some nice weather! All the best,JD. |
