Your tax disc has the date of expiry on it so generally it would not get noticed as it looks just like a continuation BUT if it did not have tax beforehand and you had an accident in the preceding days to the commencement and it was check by an officer or insurance copy they would have the right to fine you or indeed in the case of an insurance company could refuse to pay the claim on the basis of driving without tax
It would possibly be looked upon differently if you had just purchased the car but officially it is being driven without a valid tax disc. there used to be a "grace" of 3 days i think but not now that was removed
I had a similar discussion with a police officer in the police canteen one day is how I know this...Although it is no longer a criminal offence but a civil one dealt with by the local council _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

Hi
You can get done.
An examiner wouldn't take a driving school car out on test like that either.
If I get mine early I put it behind the current one until the first of the month, trouble is it is easy to then forget to move it forward.
Turned up for an 8:40 driving test on the 1st of the month once and the examiner came back in to tell me my tax was out of date, fortunately he allowed me to move it in to place and then took the candidate out, but if I hadn't already bought it he wouldn't have done so. |
