I love telling people that I drive a Volvo and pull a caravan and then watch their faces when they see my outfit.
It is a 1970 Volvo Amazon 132 and a 1978 Safari 14-2.
I bought the Safari 3 years ago and as there was nothing on the web about them I started a group for owners that now has over 150 members.
The group is at
http://groups.msn.com/ClassicSafariCaravanEnthusiasts
anyone who is interested in Classic Safari caravans is welcome.
I use it as an office at my classic car events and for weekends away. I also go to the International Classic Caravan meeting each year and so have been to Belgium, France, and Switzerland in the last three years and next year will be off to the meeting in Holland. Any other owners want to join me? The British support is pretty poor with only 2 or 3 of us making the trip. |

It is a nice looking set up, I will admit.
I assume that you have the twin carb engine (B20B) in it, am I correct? |

UJ
It does now!
Originally a B20 with the single Stromberg, I have just fitted twin SU's, 4-2-1 exhaust mainfold and sports system, and released another 15-20bhp by my reckoning. |

Hi Brian
How's it all going? Just found this forum and I must say what a relief it is not to have to travel (cyber-space wise) thousands of miles to get in contact with other obsessives like ourselves.
Been away for a couple of months due to being laid-up in hospital but hopefully all is getting back to normal (whatever that is) and Ratty will be given some love and attention soon. Renovations came to a complete stop before.
Lovely to see the picture of the Amazon... sold one similar to that on Ebay a couple of years ago (wish I hadn't now!!! ) Always wondered what you towed the Safari with.
Keep Smiling

Hi Cornish Lass
Glad to hear you are up and around again.
Now you are on two forums who want to see pictures of your "Guildford"
If you are having problems posting them, send to me via an email and I post them on both forums for you. (My email motordata@aol.com)
As you say in your other post it is good to find this forum in the UK, now we need to really get it going!! |

| Never seen an Amazon with Minilite wheels before (if that's what they are), and don't they suit it? Marvellous. |

A couple of updated pics of my Volvo and Safari, showing the alloys on the Safari and the cleaned up front on the car - no overriders or badges. Also shows the full leather interior

Rick
The seats are from an S40 - my ebay bargain, £102 the lot.
The back was a swine to fit, had to cut out the steel frame that was covered with the seat foam.
The fronts went in on two new brackets, even got the driver's electrics wired in including memory settings!

Looks good without the overriders. My husband's got a thinh against overriders too. He took them off our old Rapier and wants to do the same to the Snipe. Wheels look good too. |
