But some of us have got very dirty cars 47p2. I'm beginning to like Buzzy's idea about not washing them an putting on gloves when I come back indoors. Laughing Laughing Wink

pigtin,

Running 3 diesel cars a Classic Range Rover and the P2 I can assure you that when I have been working on the cars I am anything but clean.

I also find soap powder excellent for cleaning paint brushes Shocked

Can someone please explain to me the reason that a lot of people seem to want to risk serious skin diseases?

Yes, you're right UJ, I have to be very careful as even a change of water when I go away gives me problems. When I was younger I seemed impervious to everything until I used Epoxy Resin at work. It not only gave me nasty skin problems but it seemed to destroy my immunity against everything else.
I wear latex or PVC gloves now and very rarely come into contact with oil and grease.
Joking apart everyone. Please take UJs warnings seriously.

Hi

UJ, I am not disregarding your point, but there are far more important things in my life to worry about than washing my hands with washing up liquid, or wearing the odd pair of gloves, I don't wear them all of the time, or wash my hands in duck oil every day. Everything in moderation.

Very Happy

Cheers

Dave

Any scouring powder such as Vim works, but I'm sure you shouldn't use it...probably

G day all well I have invested in a pair of mechanics gloves, not only does it keep your hands clean, but takes the sting out of those spanners that slip on cold days and those hot things your trrying to tighten to stop a leak

Over the years I have used all sorts including washing up liquid etc, but I reckon the best is Manista. Trouble is that it does not seem to be very common these days. Using new Swarfega at present and find it fairly ok, but you do have to work it more than Manista

Hi Paul,

Please excuse if this is teaching granny but Swarfega doesn't work if get your hands wet before rubbing it in.

Cheers Peter, I know that. In fact most of the cleaners (w/u liquid included) need to be used on dry hands. I find that the new Swarfega is quite liquid compared to Manista so you have to work it harder. At least it doesn't stink of paraffin like the old red stuff!
