Hello all. I'm from western Canada but have always loved cars especially British, older Japanese and anything oddball. In the past I've owned a few interesting cars including a Triumph Spitfire, Reliant Scimitar GTE, a few Rx-7s and an old Z28. Currently I'm finishing off a Lotus Seven clone build using Luego components with a Toyota 4AGE twin cam engine.

a friend of mine has this Austin A40 Somerset which I'd like to make my next project car.

I also take a lot of car photos which can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/daveseven/

Welcome Dave. Wink

That looks like a very sound Austin, does it come from a dry area?

I never thought of Canada as being all that dry, and those Austins are prodigious rusters in my experience, yet that one looks only weathered rather than rusty.

Thanks all.

Out in western Canada it is quite dry and we don't have massive problems with rusting like they do in Eastern Canada. When the snow flies we use roads on the road as opposed to salt out east. Less rust but more cracked windows.

The A40 is close to rust free with a few little bits of surface rust here and there. Its not running and the radiator is in the truck. No idea on the history as a friend of mine was given it (he has a lot of British cars - mostly Vauxhalls). The interior is rather beat up especially the seats and the tires are toast. If I can get it up and running as well source tires for reasonable cost I'll likely give it a lick of paint, sort the brakes and put it back on the road. A few more pictures.
