I wonder if anyone can point me in the direction ( preferably a website ) of a list of county or city identifier letter marks for registration numbers issued
1932 - 1963 when they were in the main 6 digit plates where the 2nd & 3rd letter identified it's place of first issue.
i.e like ABC 123 where the BC was the place identifier.
glass's guide used to issue a handy little book with all of this........but can I find it ! _________________ Richard |

I have a list of all reg letters with the dates of issue for each first letter for the region identifiers.
If you tell me the three letters of your number, I can let you know when it was issued. _________________ Brian

Issued by Halifax Borough council between Nov 1956 and Oct 1957.
So assuming the same number of registrations each month yours would be August 57.
The Kithead Trust website says:
HALIFAX
West Yorkshire Archive Service, Newstead Road, Wakefield, WF1 2DE (01924 305980)
Allocation books JX 8501 - UCP 241; card index complete.
So you might get details of first owner or supplying dealer from there.
Hope this helps. _________________ Brian
