Interesting that you should mention taste Nic.

I have used taste to determine whether or not it is present and it is slightly sweet. How does older antifreeze differ in taste to the modern stuff? Maybe just a whiff of blackcurrents and lead pencils. Wink

A word of warning to anyone tasting their antifreeze....It is highly poisonous. When draining your coolant remember to drain into a container and rinse any spillages. Cats, dogs and wildlife have been known to lick the sweet liquid and subsequently die after comsuming the antifreeze

Hi Peter, this was a long time ago, about 35 years. When I found out that antifreeze contained alcohol I thought a taste would be in order - yuk, wrong type of alcohol. Anyway ale is much better but no good as antifreeze. Meg has a distinctive smell, I have not tasted it nor do I intend to. I have abused my body a bit too much.
Back to subject; always buy 25 Ltr containers as the price is much nicer.

Nic

Thanks all, in the end got some Halfords antifreeze/coolant with all the stuff in it and glugged it into his throat before he knew what happened ( he hates medicine) Laughing
