I have just purchased a set of brake linings for the Trax, they do come with rivets but is there a special tool to attach the rivets firmly and does anyone know where one can buy a lining adhesive? _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

Hi Greeney
You need one of these;
I'm pretty sure to bonded shoes are fitted under pressure, not just glued.
I have had this one for years, they are still made you can get them from aviation stores http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/topages/RapcoBrake.php

Hi
I remember my father rivetting shoes using a suitably sized stub, for the flat end, mounted in the vice and then 2 punches for the small end, a broad centre punch to start spreading them and then a flat punch to finish them.
An eyelet style punch would have possibly done both operations at the same time. |

My father also riveted his own shoes for his Albion 6x2 twin steer and Seddon 6x4.
I'm sure I still have some of his rivets in my garage _________________ ROVER

That was helpful thanks
I got email back, they want 70$ for item and postage to France, I will look around I think,the item is only 25$ I am in no hurry.
From that chevy article it looks easy enough to make a clamp to make sure there is no air under the lining _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

I have recently re lined my shoes on my E93A - just used two punches and started from the middle outwards - all went quite well. |
