Hi Guys
I was wondering if anybody here would be able to give me some advice regarding gasket materials?
I am looking for something fairly thick 3-4mm and be heat resisting up to about 650 deg C. Has anyone bought any such stuff for exhaust manifolds?

There are sheets of metal/fibre composite on Ebay for exhaust gaskets but they do not come as thick as that - that is a unusually thick gasket!
I suppose you could use 2 or 3 layers? _________________ Rover P2

Most companies that work in the industrial heating type areas carry heatproof sheeting. I bought about a sq yard a few years ago, from some such.
Any help? |

Thanks guys
I did try ebay but like you said most people dont go that thick. The industrial heating people might well do something like that, I was thinking of trying "Hayley" who sell all kinds of industrial bits. I have also emailed a company I found on the web. When I get something sorted I will let you all know for future ref.

Hey Scott,
I reckon an exhaust manifold gasket 3-4mm thick would burn out pretty quickly.
Is it possible to make yourself up two thin composite gaskets and make a solid steel gasket to fit between them?? Just a suggestion.
