Hello
I have a triumph vitesse MK2 1968 2 litre 6 cylinder.
I have a problem:
I started the car this am but only made it to the end of the road when she completely lost power. The engine was still running but seemed either completely choked or petrol starved. I have recently had the twin Strombergs serviced and until this am she has run beautifully. Has anybody got any ideas please?
Thanks in advance
Steve

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum.

When the carbs were serviced, were the diaphragms in the Stromberg carbs replaced? splits in these can cause erratic running.

Hi Poppet, you will have to give us a bit more. Will the engine rev? Is the engine missfiring. Is there smoke? Is it rattling? Have a look at the dizzy, can you turn it by hand? Gently pull the HT leads, are any loose. good luck

Thanks for all your helpful advice - managed to sort the problem - discovered the car was only running on one carburettor! Further investigation revealed the float chamber needle valve had stuck in the off position.

Hi Poppet, glad you got it sorted. I have always liked the Vitesse. Here is a rather nice one at the Newmarket Classic Car Club.

Umm, nice. Thats my Midget next to it.
