Hi
If you have white lenses find a craft shop/store where they have glass paints for stained glass work.
I have used an amber, glass, felt tip to put the coating back on an amber bulb for my modern.
Might have to put the colour on the inside of the lens to make it last longer. |

Oliver,
I bought some dye designed specifically for colouring indicator lenses in a speed shop in Australia. I needed amber and red to colour the rearlamp lenses of my Kombi which the sun had burned clear. It was cheap and extremely good. Five years later there is no sign of the colours fading.
If we can get it in Australia, it must be available in the UK or France! This stuff is called "Speciality Lens Dye" made by Speciality Automotive, Croydon Park, NSW, 2133, Australia.

Used the stained glass paint in red to convert a Lucas L494 reversing light into a rear fog light. One of these:
I didn't know that Lucas had made a fog light as well, and that they are now very rare, so I was delighted when I was offered four times what I paid for it that came down to three times when I told them mine was not original! _________________ Brian

I wonder if the 489 is the white lens and you are looking for the wrong part number.
I found part number 488 on ebay if this is any use

When I found my sidecar there is a 489 lucas lens on the back but the lens fell on the road at the first ride out !
I just want to keep my watsonian Bambini sidecar as original if possible !!
I just know that white 489 lens are for Aston Martin, Morris Minor, early Land Rover.......!

I searched for a red 489 on the net and there was no mention of it in red so I think you will need to paint it until one turns up.
Wolseley also used the white front 489s but not on the rear _________________ ROVER

I can't think that Watsonian have this lens only made for the MK2 Bambini sidecar.
Is it possible to find Lucas lens list for all car, please ?
