Very good thank you you poodge
I "know of Mr Croll" too through the CCC, he has written once or twice to the magazine and posted on the CCC forum
I had 3 of the HY vans until last weekend when I stumbled across another while out to dinner, NOW I have 4 _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

The blue one I managed to bring back from Edinburgh, a friend of mine owns a restaurant there. He gave it to me so I would restore it as it failed its MOT. It cost me £500 to ship it back here though It goes very well and is a 1973 vehicle. I tidied it up and put it through CT but still needs work
The Silver/bronze one I rebuilt a few years back 2005 actually. It always gets a crowd around it, she is a 1970 and called magali _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

When there is a gathering there always seems to be plenty around but they are very rarely seen now. They are either just used like mine where I drive in to Limoges in it because I can but there are the odd ones around in France at least still working. The most you see are in farmyards and used as chicken sheds or suchlike.
They were made in Holland too usually recognisable as they didn't have "suicide doors". As with most Citroens the Dutch love them
I have got a photo or 2 of my white one if I can find it on my backup drive
I will dig them out
This may interest you the front train comes out in one unit

I absolutely love these vans, I can't over just how ugly they are, yet strangely attractive at the same time (I used this as a chat up line once - didn't work though! ).
There's a gent in the Clydebank area of Glasgow who has a restored fire brigade version, I think they did an article on it in "Small Van(?)" magazine.
I've got to say Greeney, the grey one looks quite stunning, remarkable job.

Thank you, I was lucky to get a good basis with that one as it came from Montpellier so generally warmer climate and not as much rain, It was a bakers van and had flour and crumbs everywhere
It took me a year to restore.
They are great character vehicles, I have been applauded and cheered in it.
Never worth much though this one will probably fetch 6000€ So its a love for it not to make a quick buck.... _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

Made in Holland? Where?
I always thought the change of suicide doors to front hinged doors was just because of a change in regulations or whatever, and that when it changed (late sixties?) it changed for all HYs being for the Dutch market or the French market.
Greeney - are you near Limoges? Some Dutch people have a camping nearby, they also have an interest in old Citroens especially HYs (there's a big garage and workshop on the site).
